Building connection through writing
Holidays in a divided world and a writing exercise that connects.
I’m currently lying in bed recovering from a cold. The cold came on suddenly. I felt almost sprightly this past Monday while recording the final modules of a new Honing House class to be released the first week of January (more about that in the next free newsletter).
This recording was the culmination of a month’s non-stop work sequencing the class and writing the material. I was overjoyed to have it done, to finally get it out there into the world, and to connect with people just starting their writing journey.
So of course, the moment I broke down the tripods and unclipped my mic, I felt the telltale itch of a cold in my throat. Within an hour, my nose could no longer pass air.
While the cold could easily be blamed on a studiomate of mine, I think the main culprit was stress. Taking the leap to work at Honing House full-time has been on my mind a lot. How do I develop the best classes? How will I find the biggest audience?
If you build it, they will come.
I’m a firm believer that a healthy body requires a positive state of mind.
But man, the news of the world makes it difficult to always stay positive, even when you’re doing your best.
